Ariana Grande has seemingly weighed in on Carrie Underwood’s highly-publicized appearance at Donald Trump‘s inauguration — and her reaction speaks for itself.

On Monday, January 20, pop culture guru Evan Ross Katz posted a photo to Instagram of former vice president Kamala Harris looking off into the distance as she stood behind Underwood at the event. The “Jesus Take the Wheel” artist, for her part, was in the midst of singing an a cappella version of “America the Beautiful” after sound equipment failed just before she was set to perform.

“Kamala Harris evoking Coco Montrese (‘Girl, find the note’) watching Carrie Underwood at today’s chilling Inauguration,” Katz captioned the photo, invoking RuPaul’s Drag Race star Coco Montrese’s viral phrase, in which she encouraged another contestant to “find the note” amid an awkward a cappella performance.

Grande, for her part, “liked” the post — and fans immediately went wild in the comments section, interpreting her reaction to the upload as major shade toward Underwood.

“ARIANA LIKED. OH MISS GRANDE THE VOCALIST AND LEGEND YOU ARE!! @arianagrande,” one person wrote in all-caps.

“ily Ariana,” a second fan praised.

“Ariana liked this lmfao ,” a third commenter laughed, while another chimed in: “ARIANA HAHAHSHEHQHHWHSHAHAHAHQHWHWHWHWH.”

“Ariana what are you doing here ,” another fan inquired.

Underwood’s appearance at Trump’s swearing-in has made headlines even before she arrived at the event; the American Idol champion was hit with backlash from many over her decision to perform at the inauguration.

As for her appearance at the inauguration itself, every move Underwood made was highly scrutinized — and not just her performance. Footage of the “Before He Cheats” artist seemingly “snubbing” Harris — by not shaking the former VP’s hand while shaking those of the presidents and VPs around her – immediately went viral on Monday.

Grande, for her part, has been vocal against Trump and his policies.

“Holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today,” the Wicked star wrote via her Instagram Story in November after Trump won the 2024 presidential election against Harris. She also shared a list of LGBTQIA+ resources.
