Israel: 93 UN aid trucks reached Gaza on second day after blockade

A total of 93 UN trucks carrying humanitarian aid reached the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom border crossing on Tuesday, according to COGAT, the Israeli authority for Palestinian affairs.

The aid included flour for bakeries, baby food, medical equipment and medicine, COGAT said in a statement.

“The IDF [Israel Defense Forces] will continue to facilitate humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip while making every effort to ensure that the aid does not reach the hands of the Hamas terrorist organization,” it added.

On Monday, humanitarian aid reached the embattled territory for the first time in almost three months.

Israel had not allowed any aid deliveries into the territory since the beginning of March, accusing Hamas of reselling the aid supplies to finance its fighters and weapons.

The United Nations and aid organizations are warning of famine in the coastal strip.
