For the rest of 2024 the Jet Stream pattern has changed and pushed the arctic cold air back up into Canada. The will allow for well above normal temps through the weekend and into early next week. Normal high for Erie is in the mid to upper 30s for the end of December. We will be in the 40s and 50s.

Showers will invade the area this weekend, but they will be scattered on Saturday with more widespread rain on Sunday. Showers will likely move out Monday morning and return later on Tuesday, New Year’s Eve.

Then, the arctic air returns for the New Year, with any rain changing to snow and falling temperatures on Wednesday with sharply colder air Thursday into the first weekend of 2025, as well as lake-effect snow showers.
