Close to a million Palestinians evacuate Gaza City, some 200,000 remain, IDF says
Around 900,000 Palestinians have evacuated Gaza City since mid-August, with approximately 100,000 reportedly evacuating over the past week, the Israeli military said.
Around 900,000 Gazans have evacuated Gaza City since the preliminary stages of the invasion in mid-August and the full ground invasion on September 16, the IDF has confirmed.
Further, the IDF said that around 100,000-200,000 Gazans still remain.
The numbers are not exact, as the IDF does not have a precise method for counting, and could reflect that there were more than one million Palestinians, a number commomly bandied around by Western media outlets, inGaza City before the invasion.
These numbers indicate that around 100,000 more Palestinians have evacuated in the last week or so when the number of evacuees had hit 800,000.

All of that was a significant jump from the initial evacuation of only 70,000, which followed a surge to around 250,000 in late August and early September. However, the numbers only rose much higher once the ground invasion began in earnest in mid-September.
