Exit Poll Results: 72% of Americans unhappy with way US is going
Early exit poll data suggest that 72 percent of Americans who voted in the 2024 election are unhappy with the direction the country is going.
CNN revealed the first exit poll data shortly after 5 p.m. In a potentially worrying sign for Vice President Kamala Harris, after four years of the Biden-Harris administration, the poll showed that just 7 percent of voters are “enthusiastic” about how the country is going and only 19 percent are “satisfied.”

Meanwhile, 43 percent are “dissatisfied” and 29 percent are “angry.”
Some 56 percent of Harris voters said democracy was the most important issue at stake in the election, and 21 percent said abortion was their top concern.
For Trump voters, 51 percent said the economy was the most important issue, 20% said immigration was most important.
Exit polls measure voter attitudes about a range of topics and provide more detailed demographic data about elections. Notably, early exit poll numbers are subject to change as more surveys are released to news outlets as Election Night goes on. Data that could indicate the direction of the election is also withheld until polls close.
The poll showed that only 7 percent of voters are “enthusiastic” about the direction of the country and 19 percent are “satisfied.” Meanwhile, 43 percent are “dissatisfied” and 29 percent are “angry.”
