From Dreams to Runways: Anthe De Zutter’s Journey into Modeling
Anthe De Zutter’s modelling journey began long before she fully understood its potential. As a child, cameras fascinated her; posing became a reflex whenever one appeared. Her father, who frequently captured family moments on camera, unknowingly became her first mentor, igniting a lifelong passion for being in front of the lens. These early experiences laid the foundation for her future, whether it was holiday snapshots or communion portraits.
Seven years ago, De Zutter’s path took a significant turn when an amateur photographer discovered her on Instagram. Until then, modelling had never been a consideration, but she decided to take the opportunity. Her first photoshoot was far from perfect, and she recalls feeling like an inexperienced beginner. Yet, the positive reactions to those early images fueled her confidence. As she shared her work on Instagram, other photographers reached out, and what started as a casual experiment soon blossomed into something more significant.
Navigating the early days of her career came with its challenges. De Zutter often encountered awkward situations and moments of discomfort. Despite these, she remained vigilant, ensuring her safety by informing friends of her whereabouts during shoots. These experiences not only toughened her but also taught her valuable lessons about the industry and how to protect herself.
Her big break came when she signed with an agency in Antwerp. This milestone validated her efforts and opened doors to professional opportunities. De Zutter’s first modelling job for a small Belgian brand marked a turning point, even as she struggled to balance modelling with her responsibilities at her father’s business. Choosing between family obligations and her dream career was difficult, but her passion for modelling kept her motivated.
The pandemic brought an unexpected pause to her burgeoning career. However, De Zutter focused on personal growth, improving her fitness, diet, and mindset. When the world reopened, she was ready to seize new opportunities. Agencies across Europe, including Spain, Germany, and France, believed in her potential. Over the past two years, she has worked with notable brands like Schweppes, Kozii, and Baobab Colombia, travelling to iconic fashion hubs like New York, London, and Paris.
While De Zutter has achieved significant milestones, her ambitions remain high. She dreams of landing a major cosmetics campaign, walking more runways despite her 170 cm height, and being featured in Vogue. Inspired by trailblazing women who represent diversity and defy industry norms, De Zutter is determined to continue growing while staying true to herself. For her, the runway is just the beginning.
