Handbags Take Center Stage in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’: A Sneak Peek at the Luxe Styles

From unreleased totes by Celine and Valentino to vintage designs by Coach and Rabanne, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is putting designer bags back in the spotlight.

Since July, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, who play the main characters in the film franchise, have been spotted filming the highly anticipated sequel in New York City, while carrying handbags from well-known luxury brands. The list, selected by costume designer Molly Rogers, includes tote, briefcase, clutch and hobo styles with the potential of inspiring new trends once the film comes out. “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is set to be released in 2026.

Coach Vintage Metropolitan Briefcase

Andy Sachs has an official work bag in “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” Hathaway, who plays the famous character, was seen carrying the Coach Vintage Metropolitan Briefcase while wearing different outfits on set.

First introduced by Coach in 1999, the Metropolitan Briefcase is crafted with glovetanned leather and features multifunction pockets inside, as well as a turnlock closure and leather lining. The bag is currently sold out, but available for purchase on reseller platforms such as eBay. Prices range from $150 to $900.

Rabanne Silver Nano 1969 Bag

For her party look, Hathaway’s character was seen carrying the Silver 1969 Nano bag by Rabanne. The bag is assembled by hand and features 282 metal pellets, according to the brand.

The style is inspired by Paco Rabanne’s Iconic bag, which was released in 1969 and became the designer’s signature bag. Its shape, created with interlinked metal discs, was considered groundbreaking for the time and caught the attention of celebrities such as Françoise Hardy and Brigitte Bardot.

Valentino Garavani Nellcôte Bag

Hathaway spotted two Valentino bags while filming in New York City. The first was the Valentino Garavani Nellcôte bag by Alessandro Michele, a suede shoulder bag that features fringe, ball studs and rivets inspired by the boho style.

The bag is available for $2,690 in the Testa di Moro colorway, as seen carried by Hathaway, and Havana Beige.

Valentino Garavani Panthea Bag

The other Valentino bag carried by Hathaway was the unreleased Valentino Garavani Panthea bag by Alessandro Michele. The napa leather bag features a chevron pattern and a studded strap. The style debuted on Valentino’s fall 2025 runway and will be available in September for $3,800.

YSL 1970s Shoulder Bag

Taking part in the vintage and archival dressing trend ongoing in Hollywood, Hathaway’s character was seen carrying a vintage shoulder bag from the 1970s created by Yves Saint Laurent. The bag was reportedly sourced from Amarcord, a vintage boutique and archive from New York City.

Fendi Basket Forty8 Handbag

While looking ready to go on vacation, Hathaway was spotted with a Fendi Basket Forty8 handbag. Available for $1,800, the bag is made of recycled plastic with the brand’s signature geometric FF weave.

The actress paired the handbag with a Bric’s Bellagio 3.0 21 carry-on spinner, which is available for $725.

Stella McCartney Ryder Flab Crossbody Bag

The Stella McCartney Ryder Flab Crossbody Bag was introduced in the brand’s fall 2025 collection and is handcrafted by artisans in Italy from cruelty-free snakeskin alternative. The bag’s silhouette includes a logo-engraved padlock and a shoulder strap.

Celine Smiley Bag

Streep, as Miranda Priestly, was showing off an unreleased Celine Smiley bag on set. Created by Michael Rider, the leather bag features a new zipper that creates a “smiley face” design. The style was introduced during Celine’s Paris Couture Week in July, and it will be available for preorder in September.

Pinel et Pinel Violet Clutch

Streep’s character was also seen carrying a vintage Pinel et Pinel violet clutch, which is no longer available. Pinel et Pinel is a French luxury brand established in 2004 by Fred Pinel, known for designing trunks, leather-covered cases and leather goods.

Dior Large D-Journey Bag

Emily Blunt, who plays Emily Charlton in the film, carried a Dior D-Journey Bag on set. The hobo style debuted on Dior’s spring 2025 ready-to-wear fashion show and is available for $5,300. The bag is crafted in black crinkled calfskin with flat macrocannage topstitching and comes with adjustable top handles with gold-finish metal CD hook.

Berluti Cartable E’Mio bag

Stanley Tucci’s Nigel was spotted wearing a Berluti Cartable E’Mio bag. The leather briefcase features a decorative handmade stitching, a clasp and padlock and two separate compartments.
