Israeli airstrike targets armed group in West Bank

The Israeli military said early on Tuesday its Air Force attacked a group of armed “terrorists” in the West Bank.

A fighter jet targeted the “terrorists” in the area of Tamun in the Jordan Valley, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on X.

Details were not initially provided.

On Monday, at least three Israelis were killed and eight other people injured in an attack in the northern West Bank, according to Israeli rescue workers.

A suspected Palestinian attacker had fired at a bus from a vehicle in al-Funduq, west of the city of Nablus, and was said to be on the run along with another individual, media reported.

“We will find the abhorrent murderers and settle accounts with them and with all those who aided them,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.

The already tense situation in the West Bank severely worsened after the Hamas-led massacre of around 1,200 people in Israel on October 7, 2023, triggering the Gaza war.
