Kellyanne Conway’s daughter’s Trump posts go viral

A rebuke of Kellyanne Conway‘s defense of former President Donald Trump from her daughter Claudia Conway has gone viral on social media.

Trump became a convicted felon—a first for a former or current U.S. president—after a jury deciding his New York criminal trial found him guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up “hush money” payments to porn star Stormy Daniels on Thursday.

Kellyanne, a former Trump adviser, was one of many Republicans to defend the former president on Friday and suggest that he is a victim, praising Trump as “resilient and a fighter” while sharing a video clip of her similar comments on Fox News to X, formerly Twitter.

“I know @realDonaldTrump is resilient and a fighter,” she wrote. “Now it is time to focus on The Debate, his Running Mate, And Making America Great. #Win”

Claudia, who has entered the media spotlight on more than one occasion for strongly disagreeing with her mother on political matters, responded to the post with the following reply: “I think you forgot to add ‘felon.'”

While Claudia’s response to her mother was later deleted, it was preserved in screen captures taken by lawyer Bradley P. Moss and others.

Claudia went on to make several additional X posts on Friday that correctly referred to Trump as a felon, while also making clear her affection for Kellyanne outside of politics.

“I’m no avid Biden backer, but we must examine the facts,” Claudia wrote. “The fact is that Trump is a convicted felon—convicted in a fair trial honoring due process and jury neutrality. The man that many of you seem to want to lay down your lives for has been, is, and will always be a criminal.”

“P.S., I love my mom, but I can have an opinion too. Everyone deserves to have a say, you know?” she added in a subsequent post.

Newsweek reached out for comment to Kellyanne Conway via online contact form on Friday evening.

Claudia’s father, George Conway, a conservative lawyer and frequent Trump critic who was married to Kellyanne for decades before the couple announced their divorce last year, also responded sarcastically to a different post from Kellyanne defending the ex-president on Friday.

“This Verdict Won’t Change One Fundamental Thing,” Kellyanne wrote. “It won’t make @JoeBiden any less 81 years old…won’t make @KamalaHarris smarter…won’t excuse the fact that @JoeBiden crushed the American Dream for so many…won’t excuse the millions, including terrorists and Chinese nationals, Biden has let walk into our country.”

“Maybe his lawyers should put these points in their pre-sentencing memo [winking face emoji],” George replied.

Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee in this year’s presidential election, is set to be sentenced in New York on July 11, exactly two weeks after his first scheduled debate with President Joe Biden and only four days before the Republican National Convention is expected to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
