Panthers WR Xavier Legette Shows Off Cooked Raccoon in Locker Room
In one of the strangest moments in the 2024 NFL season and in league history, it was revealed that Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette was known to eat cooked raccoons. Though the strange food left many scratching their heads, Legette chose to double down on the viral video and bring in some actually cooked raccoon that he seemingly is planning to eat.
Legette was shown in the locker room via a video by Panthers beat writer Sheena Quick, showcasing some cooked raccoon in a container. Though Legette initially refers to belle peppers and onions as “exotic,” he breaks out the raccoon meat for players to try.
“Coon is regular to me. I’ve been eating that since I came up,” Legette says.
Many reporters asked for Legette to show off the container with the cooked raccoon, and Legette initially laughed at the idea. However, he shows a glimpse of what the cooked meat looks like. This naturally leads to reporters questioning how the meat looks.

As stated, Legette went viral in the 2024 season for admitting on the “St. Brown Podcast” that he eats raccoons and did so on Thanksgiving.
The Panthers receiver told Amon-Ra St. Brown and his Brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, that he eats raccoons. Initially, the brothers think that Legette is joking, only for him to state that he skins and eats them.
“Like a raccoon you see in the trash can,” he said. “I hunt it. I kill it. I skin ’em. Cook ’em. Eat ’em. All that.”
