STB inks MOU with IndiGo to boost business, leisure travel from India to Singapore
[SINGAPORE] The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and India’s biggest airline IndiGo announced a one-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Wednesday (Jul 30). It aims to promote Singapore as a leading leisure and business destination for Indian travellers.
The MOU will “further spotlight Singapore’s hidden gems and… drive demand for travel to Singapore from across India”, said both parties.
“The partnership also extends beyond business-to-consumer campaigns to include comprehensive trade outreach through roadshows across India, trade training programmes, meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibition perks, and curated familiarisation trips,” they added.
Indian travellers ranked third in terms of arrivals in the first half of 2025 with more than 500,000 overnight visitors, based on STB data. This marked a 2.7 per cent increase year on year.
The Indian budget carrier recently began expansions of its service offering after receiving its first aircraft with a new business class-like premium product in October 2024.
This product will be deployed to its Singapore flights from Delhi and Mumbai starting Aug 9.
It has seats in a two-two configuration, as opposed to three abreast in the regular cabin, among other improvements. The product also offers additional services similar to traditional business class, such as premium meal options, priority check-in, advanced seat selection, and 30 kg check-in baggage allowance.
More than 270 flights connect Singapore to Indian destinations every week. IndiGo offers services to nine of these destinations from Changi Airport.
